In late November Renfrew County Crime Stoppers highlighted their annual crime report.
The report includes statistics on how many crimes were called in through ValleyTips.ca or their phone number: 1-800-222-TIPS
Since its inception in 1989 and until January of this year there have been 5,340 total tips rung through this system.
There have been 311 arrests made with 1,272 charges laid.
The dataset also highlights 365 cases solved with the assistance of Valley Tips as well as 93 weapons recovered.
There has also been $696,489 in property recovered with just over $4.1 million in seized drugs.
Renfrew County Crime Stoppers is a volunteer-run organization which accepts anonymous crime reports.
President Bennett Blackwell said Crime Stoppers does not take credit every time a crime is solved which is why these yearly reports are made.
The generalized end-of-year reports help protect the anonymity of “tipsters”, which reinforces the Crime Stoppers mission to create safer communities o live, work and play in.
Bennett said 2025’s report is expected to be available this upcoming January.
