Earlier today (Dec. 5) the Township of Admaston/Bromley posted to social media that there are some “big changes” coming to Ontario’s recycling program starting Jan. 1.
According to the press release companies that produce recyclables, such as pop companies that produce aluminum cans, will now be responsible for funding the Blue Box program which was previously managed by regional municipalities.
Another change incoming is recycling collections.
Circular Materials Ontario, a national not-for-profit organization, will be taking control of residential recycling programs.
Critically, the township mentions this new model does not include industrial, commercial or institutional properties such as businesses, schools, and offices.
They say the responsibility for providing recycling programs falls on the business owner.
myFM has reached out to Emterra Environmental as well as the township for more details . . . stay tuned for updates.
