In late November the EOJHL announced Renfrew would be the hosting venue for this year’s All Star Game on Dec. 15.
It’s a one-day event where the best of the best of Jr. B hockey compete head-to-head in the ultimate showdown of skill.
League scouts will be watching for top performers and the Renfrew Timberwolves are throwing together a unique night for not only the players, but spectators as well.
Renfrew Timberwolves general manager Mark Robillard said it’s important for the Ottawa Valley to show their support because it could set the record for hockey going forward in Renfrew.
Robillard said the Jr. B league is very entertaining to watch and recommends even people unfamiliar with hockey to come down to the myFM Centre to see the Jr. B’s play their hearts out.
It’s also going to be a unique event for the Jr. B’s because the myFM Centre will be host to new spectating spots and refreshments.
Robillard said for the first time in Renfrew Jr. B hockey, the upper hall above the main lobby will be open for patrons to watch the game from a new perspective and the bar and Growler’s Den will be open for refreshments and snacks.
There will also be a 50/50 draw and chuck-a-puck for the kids after second period.
On the fateful day two teams will face in the title event; each team is made of hand-picked players from both the Martin and Richardson divisions.
The Timberwolves play in the Richardson Division and Robillard said he highly recommends Renfrew locals to show their support because a number of players in the matchup also call Renfrew home.
However, a week before on Dec. 7 the EOJHL is also organizing the Prospect Game which will be hosted by the Ottawa Jr. Canadians.
The roster was announced earlier this week for the Prospect Game and four Timberwolves were selected to represent the Richardson Division.
Forwards Mannix Hart, Preston Charron as well as Defenceman Jacob Lalande and Goaltender Dylan Elliot of the Renfrew Timberwolves will be participating in the Prospect Game.
Although, Robillard mentions a league rule dictates players in the Prospect Game cannot participate in the following week’s All Star Game.
