Renfrew Collegiate Institute will go back-to-back in hosting an important stop on the schedule for student athletes across the region.
RCI is excited to host the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletics Association Junior Boys “A” Championship for a second year in a row on February 24th, as local tournament convener Adam Noack explains that many of the other schools in the association felt they weren’t ready to bid on competitions while transitioning between coaching regimes.
He adds that Renfrew is always ready to welcome the best Eastern Ontario has to offer.
Qualification for the tournament is just getting underway, but Noack expects teams from Almonte, North Dundas, Prescott-Russell, and notable powerhouse Brockville to join RCI in the hunt for the six spots available, as the tournament landscape at the “A” level has shifted dramatically over the past year.
Noack, who is also a coach for RCI, says the school is particularly hungry to compete in the tournament after having to settle for being just a host last time around, and there’s a growing belief they will make the cut.
Friends, family, and neighbours from the community are encouraged to be a part of the crowd and support the Raiders should they qualify for the February 24th competition, with the school opening up the stands inside their gym to the public all day long.
