Recent shifts in weather have led to some growing concerns along rural roads across the Ottawa Valley.
Township staff in Greater Madawaska, Whitewater Region, and Admaston/Bromley are among those reaching out to their communities as a recent spate of heavy rain and sudden freezing temperatures have caused rapid changes to the stability of local gravel roads.
They explain that trying to fix or regrade gravel roads in wet and freezing conditions can actually make the surface worse, adding that crews will be working around the current weather to ensure any repairs they make last to ensure those roads stay as safe and reliable as possible.
Residents and passing motorists who spot an issue on local roadways are encouraged to contact their respective town halls as soon as possible.
