Renfrew and area residents looking to give back can make a massive difference for those in need one day at a time.
The Renfrew and District Food Bank’s Mike Wright says their annual advent calendar initiative is underway until December 5th, as he encourages community members with the means to help follow along their daily list of goods to collect with the goal of creating a box of goods that food bank clients can turn into a holiday meal, along with other staples and snacks.
Wright says the community has taken a shine to the advent calendar since the food bank first introduced it six years ago, as the campaign continues to bring hundreds of boxes full of food for underserved families from both individual residents and larger groups pooling their resources for a greater impact.
The campaign is already partway through, but Wright welcomes anyone interested in jumping on the bandwagon now to catch up with the first few donation days by following the food bank’s list of daily targets at their own pace.
Completed advent calendar boxes can be dropped off at the Food Bank’s Argyle Street office either from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, December 5th, or from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 6th.
Donations will also be accepted at the Renfrew Fire Hall during open hours.
