Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for communities in proximity to the Ottawa River, while other parts of the province will experience a thawed rainfall.
The warning reports a 100 per cent chance of freezing rain starting around 2 p.m., amounting to 2 to 5 mm of rainfall.
Gusts of wind combined with the sub-freezing temperatures is the recipe standard for freezing rain.
Freezing rain creates extremely slippery and unstable conditions; Valley residents are urged to drive slow, waddle down the sidewalk and take extra care for any locomotion once the rain starts.
