A red fire hydrant between two bollards by the myFM Centre | Mik Horvath/MBC
At last night’s council meeting, Renfrew Fire Department (RFD) Chief Mike Guest presented to council some statistics regarding emergency services in the third quarter of 2025.
From July to September of this year, RFD responded to 65 emergencies, which is up from 51 responses in 2024.
Chief Guest highlighted several complaints RFD received about building inspections.
Going into the new year Guest also wants to see an increase in the volunteer firefighting force.
As for the rest of the calendar Guest and the RFD are continuing to promote fire safety such as informing property owners on the incoming carbon monoxide alarm regulation changes and urging the public to keep fire hydrants clear of obstructions including dying brush, shrubs and trees.
