A legacy of supporting local nurses keeps rolling at Renfrew Victoria Hospital.
Members of the RVH Auxiliary recently awarded this year’s allocation from the Frances Wilson Bursary to 10 local registered nurses and registered practical nurses looking to pursue professional development through networking, nursing programs, specialized certifications, and advanced courses.
The Frances Wilson Bursary was first developed in 2022 using a generous $209,000 gift left behind by the late Wilson, a former surgical nurse and Auxiliary member who wanted the money used to empower nurses at RVH to grow and thrive in their roles.
Since its inception back in 2022, the bursary has issued funds to 16 nurses totaling $40,818, and the $33,000 allocation for 2025-2026 will be the largest it has handed out to date.
The Auxiliary says the continued investment “demonstrates a strong commitment to education and personal growth with RVH,” adding that the bursary will leave an impact that will be felt “in every life touched through the knowledge these nurses gain.”
