One Renfrew County community says they’re not ready for open-air fires, even as we get closer to winter.
Township staff with Madawaska Valley say their level one fire ban is still in effect until further notice. While campfires are allowed under the ban, the township says residents and guests are not allowed fires over 2 feet by 2 feet, as well as no daytime burning.
Community members with loose brush or leaves are asked to not burn them at this time, instead taking that waste to their dump sites at Combermere or Bark Lake for disposal. The township is also asking the community to avoid fireworks and to take care when butting out cigarettes.
Madawaska Valley has been under a fire ban over extended periods of time dating back to this summer.
