Firefighters from across Renfrew County are sharing a first-hand look at some of the conditions they need to prepare themselves for every day.
The North Algona Wilberforce Fire Department played host to their counterparts from multiple communities in the Ottawa Valley for a weekend of training using the provincial Fire College’s mobile training unit, a massive, portable structure that allows crews to train under conditions similar to real-life emergencies.
Several local fire departments have sent their thanks to their hosts online, sharing photos and moments from the exercise taken by the Horton, Bonnechere Valley, and Whitewater Region teams, as well as a short video depicting the perilous flames that welcomed firefighters upon entering the course.
