Last year Gourley's had over 1600 people sign up for the Deer Contest | Mik Horvath/MBC
Keith Gourley and the crew at Gourley’s Outdoors have been very busy lately at their store on Hwy. 132 preparing for the deer season.
To kick off the season with a bang Gourley’s Outdoors is once again hosting their Deer Contest and Keith Gourley said this year’s contest is looking like a busy one.
It’s a simple fundraiser hunters can register for to see who bags the biggest buck (or doe).
There’s a few ways local hunters’ support gives back to the community; Gourley’s will be running a 50/50 draw with proceeds going to Renfrew Fish and Game.
They are also hosting a big barbecue and bake sale this Saturday to raise money for Renfrew Victoria Hospital’s Oncology Unit.
Last year the feast garnered $3340 for RVH and Gourley attributes the success to an increase in year-over-year attendance for the competition.
Big winners will be part of a prize draw which can include cash, gift cards and prize packs.
Registration costs $10 and anyone interested must register in person at Gourley’s by Nov. 2, to participate and the contest runs from Nov. 3, until Nov. 16.
