On the evening of Thursday, Oct. 23, the Renfrew and Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their Pinnacle of Business Excellence Awards ceremony at the myFM Centre.
There were 10 award categories to be won, such as the Lifetime Achievement award and the Breakout Business award.
There was also the Youth Employee of the Year award which commemorates the hard work done by individuals aged 14-20.
Once Renfrew Golf Club employee Emily Carty, 20, heard her name being called she could barely contain her excitement.
Carty pins her success on just how social her workplace is; Emily works in the pro shop where she wraps golf clubs but also assists in organizing tournaments and getting golfers ready for their day on the greens.
She says being given the opportunity to connect with so many members of the community is a gift.
Carty recently graduated from Algonquin College’s Police Foundations program where she said 80 per cent of her classmates were men.
She said receiving this award as a young woman in the male-dominated sports industry is a huge honour.
Carty just completed her second year working for Renfrew Golf Club but even when the snow rolls in she will be busy preparing the course for the 2026 golf season such as planning tournaments.
She is simply happy to be recognized for her hard work.
The other nominees for this category were Renfrew Metro’s Olivia Sammon and Renfrew/Ottawa West KOA’s Kale Osipenko.
