If you’re in the mood to wear something purple today you might find that others have the same idea and it might not be such a coincidence.
Each October, children’s aid societies and Indigenous Child and Family Well-Being Agencies join community partners across Ontario to highlight the importance of supporting vulnerable children, youth and families through the annual Dress Purple Day Campaign.
Jennifer White from Family Services Renfrew County tells myFM what the days means to her and so many others:
Dress Purple Day provides an important opportunity to help elementary, middle, and high school students learn about their right to safety, well-being, and support. The pressures of life can be felt within families of those who are struggling as well and Jennifer and her Team are seeing more of the effects of this on folks who might not have felt these kinds of struggles before:
So today when you are deciding what to wear, why not put on something purple and remember the words of Jennifer White as you go through your day today:
