Advancing troops are not a cause for concern as operations are being conducted under the auspices of the Department of National Defence, beginning Wednesday (October 15th) and continuing through Saturday (October 18th).
The Royal Canadian Dragoons (RCD) are conducting tactical operations between Petawawa and Renfrew.
Exercise CHARGING DRAGOON will involve up to 50 military vehicles, including armoured, patrol, and transport units.
The Regiment departs Garrison Petawawa on Wednesday, moving “deliberately” along Highways 41 and 60, with stops in North Algona Wilberforce Township and Douglas, before reaching the Town of Renfrew.
Over the following days, they will advance back towards Petawawa, with overnight stops in Renfrew, Cobden, Pembroke, Admaston Bromley Township, Horton Township, and Laurentian Valley Township, returning to Garrison Petawawa on October 18th.
This exercise will validate the RCD’s ability to conduct vital tasks before deployment to Operation REASSURANCE in Latvia during the coming year.
