Municipalities across the Ottawa Valley are keeping a close eye on how they will be keeping up commitments with residents going forward.
Renfrew County Warden and Renfrew Reeve Peter Emon says the ongoing Canada Post strike is having an impact on how some small businesses are handling financial matters and communication with both offices as mail service remains in limbo.
Emon is optimistic that the disruptions will be minimal, as most of the people that town and county staff regularly work with have shown a keen ability to adapt, as Canada Post has been hampered by multiple strike actions over the past year.
He also considers it an opportunity for residents to meet face-to-face with their elected representatives and supporting staff, an option that he prefers when helping people through complex problems.
The county has already encouraged people who require the attention of Ontario Works and the local branch of the Provincial Offences Court to seek out electronic or in-person options for pick-ups and drop-offs.
