A local animal rescue’s effort to bring a clinic to local pet owners is now a chance to bring those pets to the clinic.
Linda Gervais, the treasurer and fundraising lead for Renfrew’s CARE Animal Rescue, says they’ve broken ground on a new partnership with the Renfrew County branch of the Ontario SPCA to send local cats to Trenton for an upcoming spay and neuter clinic on Wednesday, October 22nd.
Gervais calls the development “good mews for cat families” across the Ottawa Valley, adding that both the Ontario and Arnprior Humane Society offices are thrilled to secure a first-ever collaboration with a Renfrew-based rescue group after a lengthy back-and-forth paving out the details.
The Neuter Scooter arriving in Renfrew comes at a time when Gervais says overpopulation has been a growing issue within the community, as loving pet owners face growing financial pressures while veterinarian and food prices climb.
The clinic is first-come, first-served and intended for cats in good health between 12 weeks and 5 years of age. The service will cost $124.30 per neuter or $237.30 per spay, with CARE Animal Rescue covering rabies vaccine and transportation.
Pet owners interested in the Neuter Scooter are invited to send Linda an email with full contact information, including first and last name, full address, email contact, and the cat’s name, age, colour, gender, and whether it has long or short hair.
