Frances Charbonneau and Merle Ritz hand off their $100 contribution for the 96 Hearts campaign to 96.1 myFM General Manager Bob Dillabough
The community at Renfrew’s Quail Creek retirement home has gone above and beyond to make sure all kids can play.
Residents at the facility pitched in to donate $100 towards 96.1 myFM’s 96 Hearts campaign, which is looking for 96 locals to be hockey heroes by donating $96 each towards a fund that will help families in need pay for costs associated with playing in the Renfrew Minor Hockey Association.
Frances Charbonneau and Merle Ritz explain that the people living at Quail Creek have regularly found ways to give to worthwhile causes.
Ritz says that she understands the importance of having a local support system for youth sports in place, having put her own family through local minor hockey, while Charbonneau points out that the need for assistance isn’t uncommon.
Both add that they’re proud to have a positive impact on the community.
The first 96 Hearts supporters will get a limited-edition commemorative mug filled with deals from supporting local businesses and will be invited to a community barbeque at the end of the campaign on Thursday, October 9th.
