This week myFM kicked off their Helping Kids Play fundraising campaign to grant families who may not be able to afford current equipment costs or registration fees a chance to get their kid(s) enrolled in local sports.
myFM is asking for 96 donations of $96 to help fund youth hockey with the Renfrew Minor Hockey Association.
Once the Renfrew Millionaires Hockey Club got word of the effort yesterday they immediately wanted to get involved by making 10 donations of $96 which tallies to 10 per cent of myFM’s goal.
The money comes from a kitty the club amasses by helping out with the gates at the Renfrew Fair and that pool of cash is what they use to make community donations.
Jim Deslaurier, the most established club member on the current registry, said the Millionaires wants the community to get involved so they are huge supporters of accessible sports programs.
Deslaurier also made an additional $96 dollar personal donation making the Renfrew Millionaire’s contribution total over $1000.
Throughout their established history the Renfrew Millionaires have always supported sports programs, also including wrestling and the Special Olympics, and getting kids into skates is an important mission.
The deadline to donate towards this generous cause is Thursday, Oct. 9, more information can be found on our website.
