People from across the community could not wait to be a part of 96.1 myFM’s latest push to get more kids into local youth sports.
Our 96 Hockey Heroes campaign officially got underway today, but that did not stop local real estate agent David Vincent from getting ahead of the game on Wednesday by making the first $96 contribution towards a new fund that will help families in need cover the costs associated with playing in the Renfrew Minor Hockey Association.
Vincent says he is more than glad to make the first move.
Former town councillor, business owner, and local history buff Kate Windle came to the myFM studios to make her donation in person on myFM in the Morning, pointing out that Renfrew’s special relationship with hockey spans generations all the way back to the heyday of the Creamery Kings.
Both hope to see the community follow their lead in being part of the 96 Hockey Heroes campaign, and Windle adds that she’s pleased to see the return of a locally sourced community reserve for youth sports following what she calls an upsetting end to the SportRenfrew fund.
The first 96 Hockey Heroes supporters will get a limited-edition commemorative mug filled with deals from supporting local businesses and will be invited to a community barbeque at the end of the campaign on Thursday, October 9th.
More details and the link to donate can be found on our website.
