Renfrew’s Jr. A Wolves rode the highs and lows of a thrilling weekend as they brought friends and neighbours to the myFM Centre to celebrate their home opener.
The Wolves kicked off the weekend with a commanding 7-1 win over the Cornwall Colts on Friday, where Renfrew bounced back from an awkward bounce off a linesman that led to the Colts opening the scoring early in the first period to control the rest of the game.
Jackson Arango, Ethan Ross, Sam Glover (2), Tal Stevenson, Andrew Enright, and Nolan DeFazio all pitched in offensively before both teams began brawling in the last ten minutes of the game. Meanwhile, goaltender Kale Osipenko made 24 saves on 25 attempts to earn his second win of the season.
Renfrew struggled to repeat that performance when they returned to action on Saturday night, dropping a 3-0 loss to the visiting Kemptville 73’s. Wolves goaltender Nick Kurtiak kept the team in the game despite a lack of scoring, stopping 30 of 33 shots on goal in the loss.
The Wolves will try to regroup on Wednesday, October 1st, when they host the Rockland Nationals. Game time is at 8:00 pm.
