Angela and Lucas Gillan
There’s still time to make a difference for local families who live with kidney disease.
The Kidney Foundation of Canada’s annual Kidney Walk will take off from the Riverwalk Amphitheatre in Pembroke on Sunday, September 28th, in support of the vital services and programs they provide to thousands of Canadians every day.
You can also do the walk virtually, like Renfrew’s Angela Gillan, who says the family had to make other plans as the hunt to find a live kidney donor for 17-year-old Lucas continues locally.
Gillan says the Kidney Foundation has been incredibly helpful since they got in contact earlier this summer, providing a wealth of knowledge and support as she and other family members continue to rally the community to find a compatible donor.
The Foundation’s walk has already passed its local and nationwide goals, but donations are still welcome right up until the end of the month.
Gillan also urges people interested in following Lucas’ journey and the search for a kidney donor to do so through their campaign’s Facebook page.
