The County of Renfrew wants to celebrate the big community it looks after and the collaboration it takes to get work done.
County Warden Peter Emon invites residents from across the Ottawa Valley to meet them at the county offices in Pembroke for an afternoon of fun and connection on Wednesday, September 24th, introducing the public to the people and programs that keep things running smoothly in and around the 17 municipalities it cares for.
The event, which will take place in and around their Pembroke office that afternoon, will not only give residents a chance to pull back the curtain to see how the county operates and what is available for residents, like emergency response, plows and road crews, and a mini Taste of the Valley vendor show, but local youth can also get some inspiration as they enter the job market.
Emon says their goal after last year’s successful pilot run of Community Day has been to expand the event to offer residents eager for its return even more opportunities, as staff have been busy reaching out to as many of their corporate and non-governmental services, like the OPP and the local health unit, to be part of the afternoon.
Kids can also enjoy the day at 9 International Drive thanks to a touch-a-truck event featuring public works, police, and fire vehicles and a chance to paint one of the county’s plows, plus a radar run and much more from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
