Residents across the Ottawa Valley can expect to spot local military personnel on the road next month.
Garrison Petawawa will be sending the Royal Canadian Dragoons on convoy operations throughout the county between October 15th and 17th in what they are calling Exercise Charging Dragoon. a test run to gauge the regiment’s ability to conduct vital tasks before they deploy for an operation in Latvia next year.
Starting on the 15th, up to 50 armoured, patrol, and transport vehicles will travel from their base of operations towards Renfrew via Highway 41. Over the following days, they will leave Renfrew, making stops in Cobden and Pembroke before returning to the Garrison on the 17th.
Soldiers taking part will be carrying weapons and conducting tactical assignments while en route; however, no ammunition or pyrotechnics will be used.
