With children back in classrooms and homes quieter, the Ontario SPCA is urging residents across the province to become foster volunteers and care for animals in need.
The foster program supports animals who are too young, sick, injured, under-socialized, or stressed to thrive in an animal centre environment.
Katelyn Stojadinov of the OSPCA highlighted the length that foster placements typically span.
She also explained the careful process all applicants follow to ensure they are ready to provide proper care for each animal.
Stojadinov emphasized what they look for in a foster home.
Foster volunteers can provide temporary homes for cats and dogs needing extra care, support pregnant dogs and puppies, help with medical needs, or offer round-the-clock feeding.
Fostering gives vulnerable animals a second chance and provides volunteers with joy, companionship, and purpose.
