Some of Renfrew’s town council are speaking out after losing the chance to air their concerns on Tuesday night.
Councillor Andrew Dick took to a live broadcast on Facebook following the postponement of their September 9th meeting due to what Mayor Tom Sidney described as several questions raised regarding a number of items on the agenda, expressing his frustration over a number of key discussions the move has now held back.
Among his biggest disappointments were the ongoing issues with construction along Stevenson Crescent, where costs have now more than doubled after recommendations taken from consultations done last year were rendered unviable by recent rain destabilizing the ground underneath the street.
Councillor Dick also continued his push for an answer to the long-awaited repairs to the light systems at the local ball diamonds, noting that council and staff have been unable to come to a conclusion one way or the other on the matter after a full year of discussion.
Perhaps the biggest topic that will have to wait for the next council meeting is what he calls a “super disappointing” conclusion to the police investigation on the Ma-te-Way expansion project, which recently concluded without charges laid and no civil matters expected on behalf of the town.
Despite the result, Dick says council will have to move forward and do their best for the community in the year left on the current term.
These concerns are set to be discussed as part of councils September 23rd meeting, as town officials say they expect to have “related to the questions in order to make an informed decision.”
