The Renfrew OPP are asking the public to remain alert as an investigation continues near the Millennium Trail.
A shelter-in-place advisory for residents near the trail and the west side of the Bonnechere River was put in place Thursday night as police began their search for an armed individual in the area.
While the individual involved was not located, the OPP has now lifted the advisory, claiming that there is no immediate threat to public safety at this time.
Residents may still notice police presence in the area as the investigation remains ongoing, and people in the area asked report suspicious activity to the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or call 9-1-1 in an emergency.

Ontario Provincial Police are urging residents near Millennium Trail to stay inside after reports of an armed individual Thursday evening.
The advisory covers the area between the area of Millennium Trail and west side of Bonnechere river in Renfrew where officers are responding to the situation. People in the vicinity are being asked to shelter-in-place while police continue their investigation.
Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area and monitor official updates. Additional information will be shared as the investigation progresses.
