Renfrew councillor Clint McWhirter
One Renfrew councillor is calling on the town to help take some of the confusion out of “Confusion Corner.”
Clint McWhirter wants town staff to look into the traffic control plan for Veterans Memorial Boulevard, specifically from Sixth Street to the traffic light at the corner of Hall Avenue and Raglan Street South, and to consider more visible warnings that will stop potential accidents on a stretch of road that can be hard to navigate for the unprepared.
The road, which is part of the connection between the downtown core and Highway 17, is one of the busiest for daily traffic, as well as larger trucks making deliveries to local businesses.
McWhirter says the current lines and signage both ways to and from Confusion Corner up to Sixth Street are not enough for people not familiar with the trip.
The request to improve the flow of traffic along the road was seconded by Mayor Tom Sidney, who agreed that something needs to be done for guests travelling through town.
McWhirter also asked town staff to consider removing left-hand turns at the corner of Raglan Street South and Renfrew Avenue, something described in the town’s master transportation plan.
