The countdown to the 166th Cobden Fair has begun and organizers are hustling to put the finishing touches on what is sure to be one of the highlights of the summer.
Running this weekend from Friday August 22nd through Sunday the 24th, the Fair boasts that there is something for everyone of all ages and Cobden Fair President Meredith Mulligan is excited to bring back all of the crowd favorites that folks flock to the event for every year, but she is particularly excited about a new addition this year:
Mulligan says that over the years the Fair has had to adapt to a changing landscape with respect to the decrease in the number of working farms in the Valley and therefore tries to focus on what she calls “Ag Education” as a means of keeping the spirit of the annual event intact:
One of the things that will set this year’s offering apart from past shows is a focus on a specific type of farming that Mulligan says is not typical for The Valley but just as important to the overall fabric of the farming community:
The Fair typically draws anywhere between 5,000 to 6,000 visitors annually and there will be raffles, tons of local music acts and all of the sights and sounds that people have been flocking to experience for 166 years running. Volunteers are still welcome to contribute to this years Fair. Tickets are $16 in advance or $20 at the gate and unlike many Fairs entry is an all inclusive deal which covers all the rides as well as some other special happenings at The Fair.
