A flagger at work on Castleford Road near Renfrew.
Township of Horton is calling out to private road owners; get private road grant applications filled out.
The deadline for applications is Tuesday Sept. 30, and the grant would reimburse residents for work completed on a private road.
The grant amount is determined by the length of the roadway per kilometre and how many property owners utilize the roadway as their sole access point to their property.
This year the amount per kilometre is $200, and the distance is rounded to the nearest tenth.
Added to that figure is $20 per participating property owner.
Horton Township has 58 private roads, approximating roughly 22 kilometres in total private network length.
For a private road to qualify for the grant they must be verified as a civic address with the township and must be a minimum of 100 metres in length.
