Just because local firefighters haven’t been called on to face a wildfire doesn’t mean that they are not staying ready for the call.
Crews with the Bonnechere Valley Fire Department were recently seen undergoing training in the local wildlands, braving hot weather last week to practice on water pumps, hoses, and other tools in the deep brush.
The training, which the Fire Department documented on their social media, is part of what Fire Chief Darryl Wagner calls an ongoing curriculum of skill development that’s designed to keep firefighters equipped with the most up-to-date techniques to keep the public safe in dangerous situations.
