A hockey history and tradition along the Ottawa River returns after a long hiatus.
The Fort Coulonge Comets will re-enter the Northern Premier Hockey League under a new name for the 2025-2026 season, becoming the Shawville Pontiacs.
Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach Darcy Findlay will be following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Bob “Fish” Findlay, who played for the Pontiac Senior Team in the 1960s and also helped run the local Jr. B team throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
In an official statement from the league, Findlay explains that “it was always a part of my life growing up here in town—going to the rink on a Friday night to watch the Pontiacs play,” adding that the chance to host four Comets games in Shawville last year “made it clear just how much this town misses that competitive level of hockey.”
The Pontiacs will play all of their home games in Shawville moving forward.
