Joyce Hamel
A craft show honouring the life of a mother and skilled crafter is looking for people to take part as vendors.
Faye Hamel has plans for an upcoming Handcrafts for Hospice market at the Renfrew Wing set for the fall, reaching out into the community for people who love working with their hands as much as her mother, Joyce, “a crafter through-and-through” who loved the smiles that came from gifting her works to friends and family.
Faye explains that her mom was a long-time survivor of cancer who would spend her last days in the care of Renfrew Hospice, and she wanted to put the one-year anniversary of Joyce’s death to use supporting the team that took care of her in her final moments.
She adds that the day is meant for crafters first and foremost, and they’re encouraged to let their creativity flourish to help the hospice.
On top of focusing on local crafters, Faye is also working on bringing in other chances for people dropping by for the day to support the hospice and the vital end-of-life care they offer to people across the Ottawa Valley.
Handcrafts for Hospice gets underway at the Renfrew Wing from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on October 25th. Local crafters can reserve tables by contacting Faye Hamel by email or by messaging her on Facebook.
