One of the Ottawa Valley’s many firehalls gave people a rare inside look into the work they do to stay ready for when disaster strikes.
Bonnechere Valley Fire Chief Darryl Wagner says one of their most recent training sessions took his team through a maze of tight spaces as they brushed up on primary search protocols, including how to handle tangle hazards and smoky conditions.
The session, which the fire department shared a few snapshots from on their social media, is part of an ongoing curriculum of skill development that’s designed to keep firefighters equipped with the most up-to-date techniques to keep the public safe in dangerous situations.
Wagner says the residents have reacted well to the work they do to stay prepared for emergencies, crediting their public information officer for providing behind-the-scenes access like their social media posts.
The Fire Chief also welcomes any young, aspiring firefighters from anywhere in Renfrew County inspired to learn more about the profession and serve the community to join their Junior Firefighter Program. Learn more by calling Chief Wagner at 613-628-3101 ext. 242 or by email.
