“I was at home when I decided to check my ticket using the OLG app on my phone,” Allan recounted, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim his windfall. “It was early in the morning, and I hadn’t even had my coffee yet! I scanned my ticket and holy…I nearly fell off my chair! I was stunned and was left in total disbelief.”
Eager to reveal the news, the first call Allan made was to his mother. “She answered the phone and asked, ‘How’s it going?’ I replied, ‘I don’t know, but I think I’m $100,000 richer!’” he said with a laugh.
“My mom responded, ‘You’re kidding. Don’t mess with me!’ When she realized I was serious, she was thrilled and overjoyed.”
Reflecting on his winning experience, Allan said, “It’s just surreal! The excitement I’m feeling is indescribable. This win is proof that real people do win the lottery.”
Allan shared that he just bought a new house a few months ago and will use his winnings to make some renovations. He also plans to add to his savings and perhaps take a vacation.
“I’m beyond happy and thrilled,” he said with a smile. “I feel like I’m on cloud nine!”
