Help is on the way for families in Renfrew and Calabogie waiting on a primary care doctor.
Renfrew Victoria Hospital is welcoming Dr. Saeed Taghavifar to the area as he gets ready to accept patients from both communities inside Renfrew’s Health Village and at the Calabogie Medical Centre.
Dr. Taghavifar obtained his Doctor of Medicine from Urmia University of Medical Sciences in Iran in 2017. He practiced for five years as an emergency physician in Iran, with a strong emphasis on acute care, and has co-authored several academic publications.
After immigrating to Canada in 2022, he remained active in healthcare and recently completed the Practice Ready Ontario Program.
RVH Chief of Staff and Ancient Rivers Family Health Organization Co-Lead Dr. Amanda Low calls Dr. Taghavifar a great addition to both health care teams, adding that “his presence will significantly enhance access to care, not only by strengthening our local primary care services but also by supporting our hospital and the emergency department.”
Dr. Taghavifar notes that he is “deeply touched by the welcoming environment created by his new colleagues. “The people of Renfrew have shown incredible hospitality and kindness, making my transition into the community feel effortless. Professionally, I’ve been impressed by the neat, well-organized, and collegial atmosphere within the hospital—it’s a wonderful place to provide care.”
On top of primary care services, Dr. Taghavifar will also take on shifts at the RVH Emergency Department and also contribute with hospitalist work and surgical assist shifts throughout the hospital.
