Relief from the heat is on the way, but we’ll still have to wait a little longer.
Environment Canada’s heat warning for the Ottawa Valley will continue for a third straight day, with temperatures reaching the mid-30s today, feeling as warm as 40 degrees with the humidity.
A cool front is expected to put an end to the heat late Thursday. Until then, the weather agency says to continue checking in with friends and family to make sure they’re handling the heat.
Limit your direct exposure to the heat and sun, and watch for the signs of heat exhaustion in yourself and others, including headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, and intense fatigue. If you or someone else experiences those symptoms, stop all activity and drink water.
If you’re travelling today, be sure to check your vehicle before locking up to make sure no people or pets are left behind, as temperatures inside a car can climb quickly, putting anyone inside at risk of harm or death.
