With heat being well above the seasonal average this far t parents are reminded that sun safety is key for kids.
Registered Nurse Gina Inglis is reminding parents to take extra care when it comes to protecting babies from the hot sun and its rays.
For babies over six months, a small amount of sunscreen on their face and hands is OK, but shade and protective clothing are preferred.
Inglis says for older kids, sunscreen is a must.
Make sure their sunscreen is water-resistant if they’re in or near the water.
She also says make sure to get your kids to change out of wet clothes when possible.
Wet clothing can lose half its UV protection, so a dry shirt helps keep them safer under the sun.
