MPP Billy Denault was in Waterfront Park in Pembroke Park today with a major funding announcement that will have a ripple effect right across the Ottawa Valley.
The City of Pembroke is to receive $155, 828 to redevelop the Waterfront Park which will include adding a brand new Algonquin Trail Hub. The Town of Deep River will receive $750,000 to rehabilitate the community arena, Admaston-Bromley is to receive $150,000 to refurbish two outdoor rinks. The Town of Arnprior’s share comes in at one million dollars to replace two ice pads and revitalize aging infrastructure, a cause that Denault remarked was close to his heart during his days on Arnprior Town Council.
Denault went on the say that the spirit of the funding was intended to strengthen the integrity of sport and recreation right across the Valley.
Pembroke Mayor Ron Gervais was on hand to welcome the news and he commented that part of the importance of the new funding is that it represents a way of bringing together the already existing aspects of the waterfront and downtown core into once cohesive wonder right here in Pembroke:
Denault closed out by thanking Ontario Premier Ford and Minster of Sport Neil Lumsden, both of whom have been instrumental in managing the Ontario Recreation and Sport Infrastructure Fund from which the monies announced today have been drawn.
