One Ottawa Valley township is telling people planning to start a campfire to wait for the sun to go down.
Madawaska Valley says that, while campfires do not require a permit outside Barry’s Bay, Combermere, and Wilno, residents and guests should remember that they are not allowed during daytime hours between the months of April and October.
The township says to plan your next campfire from 1 hour before sunset to 1 hour after sunrise.
Check in with your local town hall or fire department for rules on campfires outside Madawaska Valley.
