Police in Almonte say recent discoveries have turned their weekend investigation into a missing person into a recovery mission.
Shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28th, an individual reportedly fell overboard while fishing below the Appleton Dam.
The dam would be shut down as the Lanark OPP conducted a search of the area using both a civilian boat and one of their Marine Unit boats, recovering some of the missing person’s belongings in the process.
The search would continue Sunday morning with the help of a police drone, and the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit would be called in that evening.
No information about the individual will be released at this time, as the next of kin are currently out of the country and have yet to be notified.
