Renfrew’s recreation team feels it’s found a winning formula for Canada Day, and they’ve packed it with even more to enjoy.
Town staff are preparing for another full-day celebration inside Ma-te-Way Park starting at 10:00 am on July 1st with a brand-new addition that will bring some of the finest old-school rides to myFM Centre parking lot, according to Renfrew’s Programs Supervisor Janyne Fraser.
The day will also feature many of the family-friendly activities and events that made Canada Day a success last year, when the town decided to shift the event into one all-day affair after attempts at splitting the activities and the fireworks display at dusk into two separate events coming out of the pandemic.
Fraser adds that hungry patrons won’t have to leave the park to fill up, as The Piggy Shack and Snowcone Valley food trucks will be on site all day on top of the traditional free barbeque at 5:00 pm.
Even still, she still suggests that anyone expecting to spend most of the day celebrating come prepared and make use of the climate-controlled arena when the heat gets to be too much.
Live entertainment will be provided through the day by local acts Dennis Harrington & Heritage Country, Aerik Watson, Break Even, and Average Joes, ahead of the Canada Day fireworks display, launching from the Seeley Ball Diamond at around 9:15 that evening.
