Kaden McGregor accepts the 2025 Jack Ferguson award beside last year's award winner, Ethan Belchetz, and Ferguson himself.
One local talent was in the spotlight at the Hockey Hall of Fame as the Ontario Hockey League looked back on the season that was.
Braeside’s own Kaden McGregor was in Toronto on Wednesday, June 11th, for the OHL Awards Ceremony, where he was given the Jack Ferguson award as the top draft pick in this year’s priority selection draft.
In his acceptance speech, McGregor confessed to the staggering amount of talent he follows in being handed the award.
McGregor, who was selected first overall by the Peterborough Petes back in April, was joined by last year’s winner, Ethan Belchetz, as well as Ferguson, the legendary figure the award is named for, as he also recognized the history that the trophy represents within the league and across hockey.
He also took time to thank the Pete’s organization, his agency, and his family for their support, while also making time to send a shout-out to his friends still honing their craft close to home.
McGregor most recently took part in the Petes’ Development Camp, where he posted three assists over two days of play.
