The Local Immigration Partnership will see their neighbouring counties square off in a game that’s sure to bowl the crowd over.
Gabriella Salera, the acting manager for LIP, explains that it’s Renfrew County vs. Lanark County from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. this Friday, June 13th, as employees from both counties take part in a Cricket Showdown at the Beckwith Recreation Complex in Carleton Place.
While the group has invited municipalities out for a few innings in the past, Salera says this matchup will be a first for most taking the field.
There are a few nerves in the leadup to the big day, but both squads will get a lesson with the experts of the Ottawa Tuskers Cricket Club to help them ease into the day, which will be ripe with good vibes, light-hearted competition, and some tasty eats thanks to a few vendors on site.
The whole afternoon is part of the LIP’s summer Culture Connect series, which aims to bring people together through collective learning, celebration, and experiencing new cultural touchpoints and traditions in our communities.
Salera invites Renfrew County residents to grab their shades and a few friends to make the trip to Carleton Place and root for their visiting team playing for fun and bragging rights, and to check out LIP’s full events calendar for their full slate of Culture Connect events.
