Police Coordinator Shawn Peever and Board President and Chair Bennett Blackwell accept the “Special Project Award”, one of three awards received by Pembroke/Renfrew County Crime Stoppers
The Pembroke/Renfrew County Crime Stoppers program has been recognized for its outstanding community efforts, taking home three awards at the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers (OACS) Training Conference held this past weekend in North Bay.
The annual OACS event brings together police coordinators, civilian volunteers, and law enforcement agencies from across Ontario to share knowledge and improve community safety. This year’s conference featured guest speakers from organizations like Know Human Trafficking, the Women’s Trucking Federation of Canada, the OPP, and the Ministry of Natural Resources. Keynote speaker George Couchie, a retired police officer and Indigenous leader, delivered a powerful message on mindfulness and cultural understanding.
