A potpourri of agenda items at a somewhat meaty Arnprior Council session Monday (June 9th) as elected representatives considered two zoning bylaw amendments that would enhance housing supply in the community.
The first involves a designation swap at the site Grace St. Andrew’s United Church that would free up portions of the property for residential development.
The second, and more substantive, carries the potential of 185 unit apartment dwelling planned in the currently empty field between Ultramar and the Arnprior Noodle House.
Councillors learned of the challenges posed for the Arnprior Fire Department in continuing to provide ice and water rescue on a formalized basis to neighbours Horton and Renfrew in the face of new Provincial certification demands coming into effect by 2028.
Fire Department History was also recalled, as the former alarm bell originally atop Town Hall is to be moved to a fixed monument location outside the current fire station, later this year.
And a new Provincial Grant application, if successful, could see refurbishment of Victoria Street from John to Elgin Streets at 73 percent Provincial dollars if applied for by June 26th.
