It was a touching win for Sandy Stirzaker, who took home $876 in Week 6 of the Catch the Ace draw this past Friday. Still mourning the recent loss of her husband of over 40 years, Sandy found comfort in her win, choosing envelope number three — her husband’s birth month.
After drawing the Three of Diamonds, she claimed the weekly prize and decided to give back. In honour of the excellent care her husband received at St. Francis Memorial Hospital and Valley Manor, Sandy donated part of her winnings to the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation. The rest will go toward a home improvement project.
Sandy purchased her lucky ticket at The Cottage Cup in Golden Lake. She says the win feels like her husband might be watching over her, especially after recently winning a raffle gift basket too.
Next week’s Catch the Ace prize is expected to be $900, with the progressive jackpot now at $7,038. If the Ace of Spades is found, the total prize will be around $9,077.
Tickets are available online at www.sfvhfcatchtheace.com until Wednesday, June 11 at 11:59 p.m., or in person until Thursday, June 12 at locations throughout the area including Barry’s Bay, Killaloe, Golden Lake, and Eganville.
Don’t miss your chance to support local healthcare and possibly take home a great prize!
