Keep an eye out on local roads and trails for members of our Canadian military.
Canadian Army Reserve soldiers from 33 Canadian Brigade Group will conduct All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and Light Utility Vehicle (LUV) driver training courses on roads and Ontario Federation of All-Terrain Vehicles (OFATV) Club trails between Ottawa and Petawawa between June 4-30.
“Members of the public may see an increased number of Canadian Army vehicles on various area roads and trails, including the Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail (OVRT) and others,” reads a press release. “The military vehicles will follow pre-planned routes between Ottawa and Petawawa, transiting Renfrew and Cobden.”
Participating soldiers will not carry any weapons or ammunition.
Officials say participating personnel will conduct planned, short stops and longer halts throughout the duration of the exercise, stopping for rest, fuel, scheduled maintenance and other training.
“All measures are being taken to ensure minimum inconvenience in these areas during the exercise dates, and members of the public are asked to take extra caution when approaching military vehicle convoys and are thanked in advance for their understanding and co-operation,” reads the release.
