The Township of Greater Madawaska has issued a public advisory to inform residents that Mayor Rob Weir will be taking some personal time to focus on his health.
During this time, Deputy Mayor Taylor Popkie will assume the mayor’s responsibilities to ensure continued leadership, support for municipal operations, and progress on key community initiatives.
“I remain committed to our community and the important work underway in Greater Madawaska. Taking this time will allow me to focus on my health so I can return to continue serving our residents,” said Mayor Weir.
“With Deputy Mayor Popkie, Council, and staff working together, the Township remains in strong and capable hands,” reads a township press release. “The Township of Greater Madawaska Council and staff extend their best wishes to Mayor Weir. We appreciate the community’s understanding and support during this time.”
