Emily Moore and Ozzy
May proved to be a busy month for the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation as another charity effort took the long road to set aside cash for life saving cancer screenings and care.
myFM announcer Emily Moore says she and her faithful pet dog Ozzy went the distance and then some in completing their month-long 50 kilometre Dog Walk Challenge, handing off $900 to hospital’s oncology department as the calendar rolled over into June.
Moore says the feedback from both RVH and fellow residents was nothing short of fantastic as she explored the streets and trails of Renfrew over the course of 31 days, including one particular trek through town that she says stood out from the rest as perfection.
Moore encourages other people looking to give back to reach out to the hospital foundation with their own ideas, adding that her Dog Walk for RVH was itself inspired by another person’s journey to support the Canadian Cancer Society.
She also has some advice for those choosing to follow in her footsteps as a long-distance walker for charity, specifically not to overdo it out of the gate..
Moore is hopeful the success she had raising funds over the past month has marked the start of an annual team-up with the RVH Foundation.
In the meantime, you can also support the hospital foundation through their ongoing Catch the Ace lottery as well as the upcoming RVH Golf Classic.
